It's been almost five years since the release of the very good "Few Against Many" album. But now the waiting is finally over! The Greek Melodic Power Metal band of Firewind is ready to unleash its brand new opus with the title "Immortals" at the early of 2017!!!
With a band like Firewind you know what to expect; pure and classy power metal stuff with plenty of melodies, powerful vocals and, most of all, stunning guitar lines. Main man and guitar hero Gus G. is the man that guarantees all the above mentioned things, no doubt 'bout that!!
For "Immortals", the band welcomes a new member on board. Henning Basse is the band's new shouter and, to be honest, he's doin' a damn well job regarding the vocals here. He has helped the band back in 2007 on the "Allegiance" tour and he is the recent vocalist for Gus's solo touring band. Another noteworthy element to ‘Immortals’ is that this album marks the first time FIREWIND used an outside co-producer, working with Dennis Ward (Unisonic, Pink Cream 69), who not only engineered, mixed and mastered the album, but also co-wrote it together with Gus G.
For me, "Immortals" is the band's best record to-date!!! More straight forward with a bigger and 'fat' sound this album grabs you at once and makes you wanna the repeat button again and again!! Of course Firewind delivers once again all their the well-known elements but this time the final result sounds bigger and better!!!
Highlights? Hmmmm let me think; all, if you ask me!! Really this album is a true highlight and it's kinda of difficult to find a weak moment or something average 'cause this 11-track record (including the bonus track) will blow you away!! But, if I had to choose some moments from "Immortals" those were the huge melodic hard rock/metal tune of "Back On The Throne", the melodic metal hymn "Hands Of Time", "War Of Ages", "Warriors And Saints" and the Epic "Ode To Leonidas".
To sum up here, I would dare to say that "Immortals" is simply a breathtaking melodic power metal record!!! Buy or die!!!
