Kobra and the Lotus is a female fronted heavy metal/hard rock band from Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Forming in late 2008, Kobra and the Lotus released their debut Album Out of the Pit in March 2010, in Canada on Sonic Unyon Distribution. Kobra and the Lotus was formed by classical singer Brittany Paige and guitarists Matt Van Wezel and Chris Swenson. The trio started recording their first songs in Calgary with transplanted Toronto musician Greg Godovitz (Goddo) then added drummer Griffin Kissack midway through recording Out of the Pit.
After a line-up change the band went on to have a very successful UK tour in November/December of 2010. In January of 2011, the band entered the studio once again with Uber Producer Julius "Juice" Butty. Their second full length album will be release in Canada/USA in August and in Europe/UK/ROTW in September; the band kicking off their touring season with the 10 day Hard Rock Hell Road Trip to Ibiza in Spain followed by a tour in Spain, France, Belgium and then the UK from June 16th.
