WHITE LION / FIGHT TO SURVIVE (1985)

"Fight to Survive" was White Lion's debut album and it was a solid album and a great example of the kind of melodic hard rock/heavy metal that was so powerful in the mid to late 1980's. A more raw sound than in their later works but the final result is almost perfect.

It features the single "Broken Heart", which was re-recorded for White Lion's final album "Mane Attraction". "Broken Heart". It is probably one of the best tracks that this band has ever recorded and my personal favourite. "Fight To Survive" is another excellent tune from this album. The album features also the amazing guitar work from Vito Bratta. One of the most talented guitarists of that era who gave to the White Lion's music the extra something. For me, Bratta is in the same level with guitar-heros such as E. Van Halen, George Lynch, Nuno Bettencourt, Yngwie J. Malmsteen and others. His solos and riffs were inspired without gettin' boring! Mike Tramp's voice was rough and melodic with a melacholic vibe when he was singing. The rhythm section was another strong point of this band. So, as you can see the band had it all to become big and they did it! Other highlights from this album are the heavy rockers "All The Fallen Men", the brilliant "El Salvador"and "In The City".

All in all, this is an excellent album from White Lion. Their first step to success and still now this album remains a classic release from that era.
