INTERVIEW WITH BRUNO RAVEL OF DANGER DANGER!

Bruno Ravel is the bassist and the founding member of Danger Danger. With Danger Danger he released seven amazing albums. He and drummer Steve West are the masterminds behind Danger Danger. In 2009, Bruno Ravel, Ted Poley, Steve West and Rob Marcelo released the brilliant "Revolve" album. An album back to their roots and the first, after the Paul Laine era, with Ted Poley back in vocals again. Ravel has, also, formed the excellent melodic hard rock act, Westworld with Tony Harnel on vocals. It's really a great pleasure that Bruno Ravel accepted Heavy Paradise's invitation for this interview, to talk about Danger Danger, Westworld, his future plans and other interesting things.
Enjoy!
heavy paradise: Hello Bruno! Thank you for accepting my invitation for this interview! So, what's new from Bruno Ravel camp? What's keeping you busy lately?

Ravel :Working a lot in the studio as usual, on several business ventures, and raising my son... Things are good!

heavy paradise: I want to congratulate you for the "Revolve" album. A stunning album and a big welcome to the Danger Danger trademark sound. Only two years after the release and allow me to say that it is a classic album! How do you feel about that?

Ravel :Thanks! I worked really hard on the album to try to find a balance between what our fans wanted and what I felt Danger Danger should be in the present. I think I nailed it, and I’m really glad that our fans like it!

heavy paradise: Back then, Danger Danger was one of the 'hottest' names in hard rock. What went wrong and you guys didn't continue after the "Screw It" album?

Ravel :Well, as you know, we did.. We recorded “Cockroach,” and then everything went wrong. There was the grunge movement that killed our genre, and of course, our well documented split with Ted.

heavy paradise: Now, when you see back then what is the thing that you are missing from that era?

Ravel : I miss my youth, the late nights and the partying!! Also, there was no internet back then, so bands/artists could make a living and get compensated for their work. I really miss that!

heavy paradise: One name, Danger Danger, two singers, Ted Poley & Paul Laine, two successful periods. What's the secret of your success?

Ravel : There’s no secret. It is the insanity, talent and passion that lives between Steve and myself!
heavy paradise: "Live And Nude" was a great live album, full of energy and great performances. Are you planning to release a live DVD in the near future?

Ravel : No plans at the moment. Every time we discuss it, we decide against it because our thinking is that we’d rather our fans remember us when we were in our prime, and not now.

heavy paradise: So, the big question in every Danger Danger fan is if we are going to listen more from your band in the future?

Ravel : I hope we’ll keep on performing live, but as for another studio release, a lot has to happen for that to come together. We’ll see.

heavy paradise: Which are your favourite Danger Danger tracks, Bruno?

Ravel : Wow.. Too many to name!!

heavy paradise: Westworld is another big chapter in your career. Three fantastic albums but...are there any plans to release an album someday?

Ravel : Tony Harnell is a good friend and we work together often, so it’s very possible that we’d do something again in the future.
heavy paradise: Tell me the first thing that comes in your mind for the following:

TONY HARNELL: Vocalist extraordinaire! Buddy!
TED POLEY: One of a kind!
PAUL LAINE: Brother... Love the dude!
NIKKI SIXX: Cool..
ANDY TIMMONS: Great friend, killer guitarist!
SEX: Love it, Need it!
RELIGION: A fairy tale. The root of all evil. Wake up people!
DANGER DANGER: an underrated, underappreciated kick ass band!!

heavy paradise: How do you see the today's melodic hard rock scene?

Ravel : It is what it is... a small group of very dedicated fans that kick ass!

heavy paradise: Any advice to the younger musicians who want to become future rock stars?

Ravel : Become a dentist! I know I wish I had! The music business sucks ass!!

heavy paradise: At this point I have to say once again a big thanx for this interview!
