SILVER LAKE - SILVER LAKE (2011)

Class Progressive Hard 'n' Heavy, influenced by the typical American school. Silver Lake is an 8 track album, including a Skid Row cover.

Starring as guests Simone Mularoni (Empyrios, DGM), Gabriele Ravagliaand, Michele Luppi (Vision Divine, Killing Touch, Mr. Pig). The latter composed and performed one of the album's song. Silver Lake was born as the cover-band Exodiain 2003, playing in Europe, Dream Theater, Angra, Pain Of Salvation, Deep Purple. During 2007 they took a step forware composing original music, following the inspiration and ideas developed during the years of practice. The first album: "Silver Lake", is the result of hard work in rehearsals room and in recording studio. It's also the result of many lineup changesm and can be considered the sum of the musical influence of every band member. To realize this album Silver Lake collaborate with some interesting artists: Michele Luppi (ex Vision Divine, Killing Touch, Mr. Pig), Simone Mularoni (Empyrios, DGM) and Gabriele Ravaglia (Fear Studio).

So, in this 8 track album we are about to hear some really good melodic heavy rock tracks, with some progressive elements, passionate performances and an overall good production. The strongest tune here, in my humble opinion, is the Michele Luppi's performance in "Life". A stunning track! The opening track, "Before The Storm", is a highlight from this record. A heavy song with some really good guitar work and a catchy chorus line. The cover tune of Skid Row's classic "Slave To The Grind" sounds pretty good!

Bottom line is that this is a good release. The guys are showing that they have a bright future in this scene. I think that if this album had more melodies would be much better. Overall a decent debut!
