The band's first two albums were and still are both classics in the book of each and every serious freak melodic hard rock fan. After that, the band released some records that were solid but far away from the huge sound of the first two masterpieces. The new 'era' of Harem Scarem began with "Weight Of The World" and continued with great albums such as "Higher" and "Human Nature".
In December 2012, it was announced that a reunited Harem Scarem would headline the 10th Firefest festival in Nottingham, UK in October 2013 to perform the “Mood Swings” album in its entirety. The band regrouped and performed at Firefest and moved forward recording “Mood Swings II”, a twenty-year anniversary rerecording of the critically acclaimed and fan favorite second album.
A new chapter in Harem Scarem career started with "Thirteen", in 2014. A fine opus that combined both periods of Harem Scarem and showed off that this band had much more to give. "United" (2017), "Change The World" (2020) were both strong efforts and included some powerful songs in them.
Nowadays, Harem Scarem is ready to unleash its brand new "Chasing Euphoria" and once again these Canadians are ready to thrill us all with their powerful, melodic and ultra-catchy melodichard rock sound.
"Chasing Euphoria", the opener, is everything that we love from Harem Scarem; it's powerful, ultra-melodic with killer guitar riffs and solos and up-beat! "Better The Devil You Know" is what I call a classic!! This is really huge, ultra-catchy with a sweet melody that grabs you at once and leaves you hungry for more! "Slow Burn" sounds like it jumped out from the band's first two records while in "Gotta Keep Your Head Up" we are dealing with yet another highlight out of the new opus. A heavier groove, more powerful and with Hess's in-your-face vocals in front row this track is just killer!!
"World On Fire" is a great power-ballad while "In A Bad Way" we have a song that is pure and 100% Harem Scarem at its best!! "Reliving History", "Wasted Years" and the harder-edged "A Falling Knife" are all three excellent sampes of a band that knows exactly how to deliver a serious and ass-kickin' hard rock song in 2025!!!
Overall this is a great album all the way! And to be honest this is more than great in every meaning! Harem Scarem is a classic hard rock band, period! Harem Scarem knows exactly how to write, perform and deliver up-beat, catchy and powerful melodic hard rock songs! "Chasing Euphoria" is a masterpiece in this band's career!!
