REVIEW : BAD BONES --- High Rollers (Sliptrick Records, 2018)

Italian hard rock band of Bad Bones is not a newbie in this scene. With already four albums on their sleeves, these Italians are back with album number five with the title "High Rollers". The band, apart from the four records, is also very experienced in live performances. Bad Bones have been touring over Europe and America for years and you can feel this experience in each and every single track.

Bad Bones is a band that loves the late 80's music and that's a thing that reflects in their music. In some parts Bad Bones reminds me of bands such as Gotthard, Van Halen, Mr. Big and Scorpions (in their more commercial days) and that means heavy guitars, crazy solos, choruses to sing-a-long, a strong rhythm section and, of course, superb vocal lines thanks to their lead singer Max Malmerenda

Just check out the album's opening tune of "American Days" and you'll get the picture of who the hell Bad Bones are!!! A totally late 80's sound, the classic sound of Van Halen meets Mr. Big, some cool guitar licks and boom!!! This is an excellent track!!  Next, "Lost Again" is yet another killer tune. I love the pumping bass line, the Eric Martin-esque vocals and, of course, I'm in love with the chorus line here. The ultra commercial "Wild Rose", the semi-ballad of "Solitary Fields" and the powerful hard rocker of "Wolf Town" are all three excellent samples of the new opus that all shows the abilities of the band to write catchy, melodic and powerful songs!!!

Bad Bones' newest effort is yet another case of 'a killer no filler album'!!! Yes, "High Rollers" is an album that 'smells' from miles away the golden era of hard rock!! If you love the classic melodic heavy rock of the late 80's, early 90's, and bands such as Mr. Big, Van Halen, Extreme or Gotthard, then "High Rollers" is gonna be your next purchase!!!

Rating : 8,7/10
