REVIEW : DeVicious --- Never Say Never (Pride & Joy Music, August 2018)

DeVicious is an international melodic hard rock band and "Never Say Never" is entitled its debut record that is gonna be released through Pride & Joy Music this August. DeVicious consists of Alex Frey (bass, song-writing, production), Radivoj Petrovic (lead guitar), Gisbert Royder (rhythm guitar), Denis Kunz (keyboards), Lars Nippa (drums), and Serbian singer Zoran Sandorov aka Mister Sanders.
DeVicious style recalls of the European melodic hard rock scene but it, also, refers to the U.S. hard rock era of the late 80's, early 90's. Powerful vocals, crunchy guitars, melodies, clever hooks n' choruses and a tight musicianship are the ingredients of this extremely interesting release.

"Everything" that opens this album is excellent and well-played melodic hard rock stuff and, for sure, it's a great appetizer of what's to follow next. "Penthouse Floor" and "One Track Mind" are both solid samples of Euro melodic hard rock while in "Lullaby" the band delivers a more AOR-ish flavored track and one of this album's highlights. The first ballad comes with the beautiful and emotional "A Night To Remember". The amazing "Crying In The Rain" follows next and it's again a killer tune while in "Calling Angels" and "Hand In Hand" the band offers two more nice and solid songs. "Never Say Never" is edgier and powerful and the last song that closes this debut is entitled "The Silence" which is an overall good ballad.

For the fans of Euro melodic hard rock/edgier AOR scene, this one is a must have, no doubt 'bout that. DeVicious has all the 'package' to lead them higher in this so competitive scene. "Never Say Never" is an album that includes killer tunes, solid performances and plenty of melodies that will make every fan of this sound very happy.

Rating : 8/10
