REVIEW : MIDWAY - LOW LIFE (2016)

MIDWAY is a Swedish melodic rock band that was founded in 2014. This three-piece rockers spent hours and hours jamming and creating music and the result was a debut record with the title "Kickstart Riot".

Nowadays, these youngsters are ready to unleash their brand new opus which is entitled "Low Life". Their music is influenced by the late 80's hard rock scene with some strong late 70's pinches but, also, some newer Swedish melodic rock 'touches' here and there.

The vocals are powerful, in-your-face and with attitude and, in some parts, remind me a bit of H.E.A.T.'s shouter Erik Gronwall. The guitars are 'crunchy', melodic and heavy and in general the whole project sounds tight and extremely enjoyable from start to finish.

After the good and heavier opener tune of "Right Now", it comes the first highlight of the new album; "Low Life" is a great melodic hard rock song with a nice groove, a catchy chorus line and an attitude!!! This song could be easily appeared in any of H.E.A.T.'s latest two albums.

"Fallin'" is yet another cool tune with a lot of groove in it while in "Physical" the boys are delivering, once again, another killer melodic rock gem with a great rhythm and a memorable chorus line. Well done!!!

"Love Is Just A Night Away"  and "(I Can't Get) Any Younger" are two more solid samples of Midway's music. Edgy and powerful with tons of groove in it and with some killer guitar lines in it. Love it!!!

All in all, this is another pleasant surprise for my ears and, to be honest, another band that has potentials to become the next big thing in this scene!!!

Rating : 8,4/10
