Tesla's axeman Frank Hannon released his debut solo album in 2004 and, nowadays, after several years of preparation of new material and gathering a new 'real' band he is releasing the brand new "Six String Soldiers".
For this album, Hannon collaborates with some of the six string legens such as the legendary Dickey Betts, the 3 times winner of Grammy Rick Derringer, Pat Travers and the founder of Y &T Dave Meniketti. Together with Mike Araiza and the amazing voice of Jeff Sandoval, Frank Hannon has formed a band with incredible talent and experience rarely found on a disc these days.
"I'm Alive" which opens the album gives us a taste of what is to follow. Very nice melody accompanied by the bluesy guitar of Pat Travers in a really interesting tune. In "Set Me Free", we are dealing with a tough bluesy-rock song as we go to the next, in the self-title track, where we find the first instrumental song. Legendary Rick Derringer participates in "To the Light" and gives his own personal 'touch' and finally Dave Meniketti brings some early Y& T memories in the "Lipstick, Smoke and Gasoline".
Closing, I would say that this is a pretty interesting release full of impressive riffs and solos, tight arrangements, excellent performances and above all an 80's feeling in every and each track of this release.
