HYDROGYN / PRIVATE SESSIONS (2012)

To be honest I never was a big HYDROGYN fan till' now. And I'm sayin' till' now 'cause "Private Sessions" comes to change my mind about this band. From the band's previous recordings, I own the "Bombshell" release of 2006 with the stunning cover artwork and the very good music that is included in it.

Their music is heavy, without loosing any of its melody, with some 80's hard rock pinches but , also, some modern rock elements. In this new one, the songs are, in their biggest part, well-crafted with massive hooks, catchy choruses, heavy guitars and a 'modern' rock feeling in the whole album. The fact is that I'm really impressed by the vocal performances of Julie Westlake! This lady knows well how to deliver a strong rock vocal performance. The guitar work is another strong point of Hydrogyn. The album contains some really great songs such as the catchy "Something To Say", the rockier "Heated Nights" and the modern sound of "Forbidden Kind" which is also my personal favourite. From the rest of the tracks in "Private Sessions", there isn't a filler in sight and the most of them are moving to the same high level as the above mentioned ones.

All in all, this an extremely interesting release from Hydrogyn. So, if you want an album with powerfull vocal performances, heavy and melodic guitars, good arrangements and catchy songs then look no further. This album is for you! Check it out!
