With Motley Crue, Sixx and his gang played some straight Rock 'N' Roll stuff but with SIXX A.M., the artist, is trying to give to the fans a darker side, a music journey filled with strong emotions and some great songwritting. The songs follow the quiet verse with a strong and in-your-face chorus line and a modern hard rock dynamic. The vocals by James Michael are powerfull and the guitar style of DJ Ashba is unique. Ok, maybe the music isn't catchy or commercial as Sixx's main band, Motley Crue, but when you are dealin' with matters such as life and emotions is the content that it's matter. The listener can find some hard rock elements, jazzy or even some pop as well. Highlights here are the Daughtry styled "Are You With Me", the modern heavy rock anthem of "Live Forever", "Smile" and "Skin". The rest of the songs are all well-written too and they all have their moments. The fact is that is too difficult for someone to find a weak moment in this new album.
All in all, this is an extremely interesting release. It's a musical soundtrack that will travel you through strong emotions filled with some great music! One of the best releases this year!
