DUFF MCKAGAN'S LOADED / THE TAKING (2011)

Duff McKagan is a founding member of both Guns'n'Roses and Velvet Revolver. He has sold over 100 million albums in his career. "THE TAKING" is the brand new studio album from Duff McKagan's Loaded. It is the band's third studio album and the first to feature new drummer Isaac Carpenter. The album features eleven new songs, which continue the band's trademark blend of modern hard rock with a strong dose of punk edginess.

Ok, let's face it! Duff is probably one of the most recognisable rock figures out there and with Guns N Roses he may lived the big rock star life, but after that, in my humble opinion, I think he lacks of some great ideas! "Sick" was an ok album. It had some cool tunes in it but it wasn't something special. So, with his brand new "The Taking", Duff and his gang are tryin' hard to bring back some punchy hard rockin' stuff and in a way they achieve it. This release has some excellent hard rockin' songs such as the blistering punch of "Executioner’s Song", the cool tune of "Indian Summer" and the furious "King Of The World". The rest of the tracks are all a bit average, in my opinion, with a darker and modern feeling.

All in all this is curious release. Maybe this album needs more than one listening to discover some more good moments. And please don't get me wrong! This is not a bad album. The thing is that didn't worked for me 'cause I expected more from Duff and his boys!
