MAGNUM / THE VISITATION (2011)

Prepare To Be Visited!! My personal opinion is that this band is gettin better as time passes by! I mean that Magnum is like the good old wine! "In The Valley Of The Moonking" was the band's last release and I have to say that it was a very good album. Magnum's strongest point was always Bob Catley's vocals, one of the most charismatic musicians who counts over four decades in the music scene! Even though Magnum was formed in 1972, they have undergone several changes in the line-up over the years. However the core of vocalist Bob Catley and guitarist-songwritter Tony Clarkin remain till' today.

So, "The Visitation" is Magnum's new album and the truth is that it's a fine cd! Pure melodic hard rock sound with some strong touches of some progressive elements and epic as well and here we have a wonderfull release! All the above plus the amazing and powerfull performances of Mr. Bob Catley's make "The Visitation" a great purchase not only for the fans of this group but, also, for each melodic rock fan out there!  In this 10 track album, you will find some really powerfull and melodic tunes such as the fantastic opener of "Black Skies", the catchy and memorable "Wild Angels" and "Spin Like A Wheel". The slower ones are also interesting tunes. Songs like the mid-tempo ballad of "Tonight's The Night" and the mindblowing "The Last Frontier", which closes with an orchestral blow-out, are showing that Magnum is here and ready to conquer the world!!

All in all, this is a very good album with some great moments in it! I was never a huge Magnum fan but I have to say that I loved this album from the first listening! Well done!
