Jorn Lande is probably one of the best voices out there, his voice is strong and powerfull in a unique way and you can't find weak performances in any album that he has released. "The Duke" is one of these albums that you can't go wrong. Is an album that is a bit heavier than his earlier works with pounding drums and in-your-face guitar work! In this record we find also Morty Black (TNT) on bass, Willy Bendikson (Company of Snakes) on drums, Don Airey on keys, Tore Moren and Jorn Viggo Lofstad on guitars.
As I said the sound is heavier and raw, the melodic lines are pretty much gone and Jorn's voice has a harder edge. Some killer tracks here like "We Brought the Angels Down " with a huge chorus, "Blacksong" is heavy with an amazing guitar work, while "Stormcrow" is a track with a more classic metal sound. Other highlights of the album are "Burning Chains" which is a decent ballad and the huge cover of Thin Lizzy's "Are You Ready ". All in all this is another strong release from Jorn Lande with some very strong moments.
