REVIEW : Code Red --- Incendiary (2017)

CODE RED is a new band/project that is leaded by singer Ulrick Lönnqvist who is well-known from his work with the band Sahara (who released a self-titled album in 2001 on AOR Heaven). Ulrick has, also, worked as a song-writer and co-writer with Hal Marabel (Bad Habit), Morgan Jensen (Swedish Erotica), Jake E (Amaranthe), Michael Palace (Palace) and Andreas Gullstrand (Creye) to name a few.

Daniel Flores (Find Me) reached Ulrick and convinced him that the time has come to release a solo record. The singer teamed up with co-writers Morgan Jensen (Swedish Erotica) and Michael Palace (Palace, Big Time), and along with lead guitarist Oscar Bromvall (Palace, Erika) and keyboard player Kaspar Dahlqvist (Shadowquest, Dionysus) the line-up was complete. CODE RED was born.

By judging off the names that participate in this debut record, you assume that this is about a melodic rock album; and, yes, "Incendiary" is a fine sample of pure melodic rock bliss that includes powerful performances, edgy guitars, hooks and choruses to whistle for days and a bunch of some killer tunes in it.
The opening tune of "I Won't Be Your Hero" is simply breathtaking; edgy AOR with some excellent guitars in it and Ulrick Lönnqvist's passionate vocals.  The kinda of cliche title "Heat Of The Night" comes next and what we have here is yet another killer tune! A moodier rocker but with a huge chorus line to sing-a-long for days while in "My Hollywood Ending" we have a typical Scandi-AOR track. "Saving Grace", "Eternal Pretender" and "Forever And A Day" are all three solid samples of pure Euro melodic rock heaven.

To all the melodic rock/AOR aficionados out there : you have to check CODE RED now! Ten polished and extremely melodic little gems for your pleasure only!! Another highlight for 2017!

Rating : 9/10
