REVIEW : Collateral, Collateral (Roulette Media Records / Cargo Records, Release: 21 February 2020)

Collateral is a four-piece UK hard rock band and this one is their debut opus which is gonna be released on February 21st through Cargo Records.

From the very first spin of this debut, I have to say that I'm really impressed. The opening tune of "Mr. Big Shot" is really big with a bad-ass groove in it. The guitar sound is crunchy and the vocals (by Angelo Tristan) are the cherry on top. Solid stuff! Next in "Promised Land" we have yet another winner out of this self-titled album. A bit Bon Jovi-esque here with some Nickelback pinches "Promised Land" is build-up for big arenas. The chorus is just magical.
"Merry-Go-Round" is a cool track that features some northern (Black Stone Cherry) influneces while in "In It For Love" the band is delivering some serious and ass-kickin' melodic rock stuff. More melodies, more big hooks and, of course, some really amazing performances. Love it!! The groovier "Lullaby", the ultra commercial and more radio-friendly "Midnight Queen" and the bluesy "Get Back To You" are all three superb samples of Collateral's music. The melodic rock anthemic tune of "Won't Stop Me Dreaming" "smells' H.E.A.T. and Crazy Lixx from miles away and the song that closes this superb record, "About This Boy" is a cool 'cowboy' pop-rock song.

Collateral with this really amazing opus comes to give a new 'air' to the European melodic rock/hard rock scene. A 9-track album that contains only killer songs that all of them include excellent melodies, breathtaking performances, a bad-ass groove, a crunchy guitar work and some choruses that you will sing-a-long for days.
