REVIEW : JORN, Heavy Rock Radio II - Executing The Classics (Frontiers Music s.r.l., Release: 24 January 2020)

JORN is without any doubt one of the best shouters out there. His voice is very gifted and sounds like the perfect mix between R. J. Dio and David Coverdale. During his long time career, Jorn has released some great albums but, also, he covered some timeless and classic tunes from legendary bands.

REVIEW : Secret Rule, Against (Pride & Joy Music, Release Date : February 21st, 2020)

Italian modern melodic metal band of SECRET RULE returns back in business with its brand new, and fifth already official release, opus entitled "AGAINST" which is gonna be released through Pride & Joy Music on February 21st.

Re-Machined is a band that recalls the classic heavy metal/hard rock sound of the mid-80's and bands such as earlier Bonfire, U.D.O., Demon and Scorpions. With their debut EP a couple of years back, the band achieved to make some noise around its name to the underground metal scene.

Revolution Saints is a kinda of super group. One look at the line-up and you realize that the label 'super-group' fits perfect. Deen Castronovo (The Dead Daisies, ex-Journey, Bad English), Doug Aldrich (The Dead Daisies, Burning Rain, ex-Whitesnake, DIO), Jack Blades (Night Ranger) and last but not least the 'mighty' Alessandro Del Vecchio (keyboards, backing vocals and production) consists this amazing band.

Talisman, the band founded and created by the late Marcel Jacob in 1989, have written, produced and recorded a new song entitled “Never Die (A Song for Marcel)” for their fallen brother who took his own life 10 years ago on July 21, 2009. Get the song here: https://orcd.co/talisman

Surviving members Jeff Scott Soto, Jamie Borger and Pontus Norgren penned the song as a tribute to Jacob as well as the legacy of music they created from 1990 - 2007. The guys created the track to commemorate the 10 years of Jacob’s passing but conflicting schedules didn’t allow them to finish it before the end of the year. Rounding out the current line up who have done a handful of shows together as Talisman since 2014 are Johan Niemann (Evergrey) on bass & BJ (SOTO) on keys/backing vocals.

Yes, it's that time of the year that here in Heavy Paradise I have to decide (a very hard decision to be honest...) about which album achieved to climb straight to number one! Once again I have to say a huge thank you to the bands, artists, music labels, friends and, of course, to Heavy Paradise's readers for yet another amazing year full of great releases...full of great music!

I was in between three albums for 'THE' album of the year. The new records from The Defiants, Eclipse and Crazy Lixx . There are, of course, three or four releases that could easily appear in this position. But the final decision has already been taken and below you can read Heavy Paradise's Top lists for 2019.

REVIEW : Saints Trade , "Time To Be Heroes" (Art Of Melody Music & Burning Minds Music Group, 2019)

Over the past years, the Italian melodic rock scene has offered some really amazing and solid releases. That’s a fact. The Italian AOR freaks must be proud of their country because their bands stood equally besides the the Swedes, Germans, the British and the Americans.

One of those fine examples of pure melodic and edgy rock stuff is without any doubt Saints Trade. They hail from Bolognia, Italy, and, with their brand new opus entitled ‘Time To Be Heroes’, they are ready to be the next Italian melodic rock heroes.

Songs like the amazing opener "Livin' To Rock", the U.S. flavored "Night Children", "Higher", the fast-paced "Queen Of Love", "Twist In The Tail" and the heavier "The Tale" are all fine samples of a band that knows perfect how to write solid and catchy tunes.

With already ten years of experience on their back in this so competitive scene, Saints Trade with ‘Time To Be Heroes’ open a new chapter to their career and they stay focused on their mission; to spread their quality melodic rock stuff to the world!!

REVIEW : Adellaide, New Horizons (Lions Pride Music, 2019)

I will start my review by saying that I really enjoyed a lot ADELLAIDE's "Flying High" opus. That was the band's debut, after an EP back in 2016, and it was a solid start for this Brazilian band. For those who aren't familiar with Adellaide's sound, allow me to say that they mix perfectly the classic melodic rock/edgy AOR sound of the late 80's with a more modern and updated sound that recalls bands such as H.E.A.T., Care Of Night and Wild Rose to name a few.

While glam hard rock heroes L.A. Guns are writing a new record that will be released late of 2020, they have just released an EP (digital only) that features covers of Xmas holiday classics by The Damned, Ramones, Slade, and Billy Squier .

The song Grave addresses the female struggle with self image and pressures. The story follows Kimmi, our singer who is pressured into cosmetic surgery. After a procedure, there are complications with her recovery which results in a rescue mission with first responders. The video explores other female pressures via substories portrayed by other female actors - all the while the band performs after dark, surrounded by a candlelight vigil. At the climax of the video, Kimmii strips and says goodbye to her demons as she throws her wedding dress into a bonfire surrounded by onlookers."

THE QUIREBOYS Announce '35 and Live' Digital Only Album Release - Out Friday 6th December

The Quireboys have today announced the digital-only audio release of their momentous 35^th Anniversary performance at the O2 Forum Kentish Town in London on September 14^th this year.

The gold and platinum disc recipients sold out their 35^th Anniversary gig, and played a stunning set of 17 classic Quireboys tracks in front of over 2000 adoring fans, including major hits such as Hey You, I Don’t Love You Anymore, 7 O’Clock and Sex Party plus stunning tracks from their new album ‘Amazing Disgrace’ including 7 Deadly Sins and Original Black Eyed Son.

Rarely has there been such a drastic change of musical style than that made by the Swedish hard rock band Easy Action when it came to the recording of their second album ‘That Makes One’ in 1985. While the band’s debut LP (1983) was an ahead of its time glam classic, Easy Action had morphed into a slickly melodic AOR group on the follow up record.

Kee Marcello, who later on joined Europe, was approached by Peo Thyrén (b) from the pop punk band Noice which were considerably successful at the time to sing but eventually ended up as their producer.

Not willing to live the destructive lifestyle of the band, Kee and Peo founded their own band: Easy Action. The name refers to Marc Bolan who is considered the biggest rock star by Marcello.

The band recorded a mini-album and got themselves a multi-million dollar deal with Sire Records. Joining Peo and Kee in this early version of Easy Action were Zinny J. Zan (v), Fredrik Von Gerber (d, ex Noice) and Danny Wilde (g).

Mikael Erlandsson from Gothenburg is one of the best singers/songwriters in Sweden today. Between 2006-2018 he was the frontman in the Swedish super group Secret Service.
He has recorded five successful solo albums and together with the fantastic guitar player Andy Malecek from the successful German hard rock band Fair Warning he thought of putting a band together. Ian Haugland (d), Mic Michaeli (keys) and John Leven (b) of Europe-fame were asked if they were interested to join - which they did, and the band LAST AUTUMN'S DREAM was born in 2003. The self-titled debut album was produced by Claes Andreasson and was a great success.

Then the band went on releasing another 14 albums with different line-ups with great musicians like Jamie Borger (d, Treat), Marcel Jacob (b, Talisman) and they all had an impact of the band’s development. They toured Japan, England and Germany but decided to take a break in 2018.

STREET LETHAL plays a fresh and powerful heavy metal sound with catchy riffs, vibrant guitar solos, a great attitude and the amaginz voice of Hell Rose Lethal, where they merge classic influences in the vein of JUDAS PRIEST, W.A.S.P., WARLOCK and IRON MAIDEN with modern sounds in the tradition SKULL FIST, STRIKER, CAULDRON or STALLION, something that will surely please any lover of good heavy metal.

Aussie Theatrical Glam Rock Warriors, CROSSON, return with their uplifting new video/ single ‘Everyone’s A Star’ taken from their upcoming new album ‘Rock ‘N Roll Love Affair’. The video depicts CROSSON doing what they do best…. unleashing their electrifying, energetic, choreographed and titillating stage show.

The track was mixed by Duane Baron (Mötley Crüe, Ozzy Osbourne, Poison) and mastered by Dave Donnelly (Whitesnake, KISS, Aerosmith).
