REVIEW : LASTWORLD , TIME (Melodicrock Records, 2019)

LASTWORLD is a new exciting melodic rock band that consists of guitarist, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Jim Shepard and vocalist David Cagle. "Time" is entitled the band's debut album that saw the light of day earlier this year through MRR.

Jim Shepherd recently released his ‘Jaded’ opus and David Cagle was half of the JK Northrup & David Cagle solid album (which was released last year). Both of the above mentioned records are well-worth checking out. This time JK Northrup helps on ‘Time’ with the mastering, while Shepherd is responsible for the production.

"Time" and "Over The Lie", the openers, are both beautiful melodic rock songs that reminded me of bands such as ALIAS, THE STORM and Unruly Child. "Four Leaf Clover" is yet another highlight out of the debut. Edgier at times with a strong Foreigner vibe in, it this tune is simply breathtaking. In "Just Another Day", we have another interesting moment here; great melodic rock vibes with a slight more 'prog' rock direction and with a killer chorus line we have a clear winner out of "Time"!! "Cry" is a beautiful and very emotional ballad while in "Don't Bother Me" the band delivers a punchier song that I like a lot. Check out, also, the up-tempo, killer and very commercial "Walk Away"!!!

Overall "Time" is a very good, very enjoyable and contains some excellent tunes in it! I hope that these two musicians will team-up in the near future for a second album. Well done!!
