REVIEW : Shakra / High Noon (2016)

Mark Fox is back together with SHAKRA! That's really great news for each and every single fan of this Swiss hard rock act. I always considered Fox's voice very close to Steve Lee (R.I.P.) and that's a strong point for the band if you ask me. I have most of the band's discography and I was looking forward to this new one.

After a couple of spins of "High Noon", I have to say that Shakra is back with a killer record!! Yes, this is probably the band's best album to date. It includes a bunch of some serious ass-kickin' Euro melodic hard rock/metal stuff with powerful performances, catchy as hell hooks and choruses and a 'crunchy' guitar work. If you already are a Shakra fan, you'll got to love "High Noon", no doubt 'bout that. If you aren't familiar with the band's sound, imagine something close to Gotthard's "Need To Believe" and "Domino Effect" and there you have the picture of how Shakra sounds.

After the amazing and ultra-catchy opener, "Hello", that will blow your mind comes "High Noon" that sound exactly as Gotthard's works with Lee!!! Brilliant stuff!! Are you ready for some big in-your-face rocker? Then, listen to the 'ballsy' "Into Your Heart"! Another killer hard rock cut that takes no prisoners with its superb guitar solo!!! "Eye To Eye" features a bad-attitude groove in while in "Is It Real" we are dealing with another fabulous rocker! "Stand Tall" delivers a more commercial and 'modern' sound with, again, a catchy chorus line and "Watch Me Burn" must be played on maximum volume!

Shakra is back with a great record all the way! "High Noon" is a superb slice of pure and traditional Euro melodic hard rock/metal stuff that includes all the things that we love from this music!! Big and in-your-face performances, tight and with attitude tracks, heavy riffs and crazy solos and plenty of melodies! Do a favor to yourself and go out and buy this little gem!
