COLDSPELL / OUT FROM THE COLD (2011)

Coldspell are back and they are ready to rock our world with their brand new album "Out From The Cold". Coldspell are hailing from Sweden and they were formed in 2005 by guitarist and songwriter Michael Larsson, who was previously with the melodic rock band R.A.W. "Infinite Stargaze" was the band's debut album and it was a great piece of melodic hard rock stuff full of excellent guitar work and passionate performances!

Micke Larsson in his recent interview with Heavy Paradise said about the new release : " I think our style is the same and the songs are in the same spirit too , but the main difference is probably this new heavier/bigger sound and of course the fact that we have 2 new headbangers in the band means a lot for the sound , band chemistry and everything! ". And he was right! The new album is a step forward from their debut! The guitar sound has a bigger sound and Larsson totally smokes here! I have the feeling that in some parts he sounds like Doug Aldrich!

The vocal lines of Niklas Swedentorp are passionate and this guy achieves to put his personal mark to the Coldspell sound. The rhythm section is solid and the production is overall strong. So, with all the above plus the inspiration of writting some excellent and catchy songs, the final result will please every fan of traditional melodic hard rock sound! In my opinion, the band is building a big reputation around its name in today's melodic scene. For the ones that aren't familiar with the band's sound, I have to say that Coldspell is the perfect combination of 80's classic hard rock (Whitesnake, Rainbow e.t.c.) with a 'fresh' air! Highlights from "Out From The Cold" are the first single (and video single) "Heroes", "Time", "Run For Your Life", "Out From The Cold" and "Six Feet Under".

So, for the fans of classic hard rock sound, "Out From The Cold" is a perfect purchase! One of my favorite 'new' bands and I think that with albums like that their future looks bright! Well done!
