H.e.a.t. / Tearing Down The Walls (2014)

After the amazing "Address The Nation" in 2012, H.e.a.t. is back with another brilliant album; "Tearing Down The Walls" is entitled the band's brand new record and, believe me, this will blow your mind!! Yes, it is that good! "Tearing Down The Walls" comes to show that this band is rightly considered one of the leaders in the melodic hard rock scene.

The sound here is a bit updated with a more U.S. hard rock flavor in it but with all the well-known trademarks of H.e.a.t. And which are they? Big hooks and choruses to sing-a-long for days, passionate vocal performances, melodies, harmonies e.t.c. As I already mentioned in this new album, the sound is more Americanized with a crunchier sound and a heavier guitar sound. Most of the songs here are up-tempo with a feel-good vibe perfect for your summer rides!!

"Point Of No Return" kicks off the album perfectly! It starts slowly and then comes the real thing; big guitars, a powerful sound and a catchy as hell chorus line! Awesome! "A Shot At Redemption", the first single, is pure 80's delight while in "Inferno" we have an ass-kickin' hard rock gem that will blow you away! Heavy as it gets with a huge harmony and a great chorus line to whisper for days! "Tearing Down The Walls" is another 80's influenced rocker that includes a sweet melody and a Bon Jovi-esque feeling in it. Next, "Mannequin Show" is another killer tune. Classic H.e.a.t. and it sounds like a leftover from the band's latest release. And the chorus is HUGE!!! "We Will Never Die" and "Emergency" are both rocks while in "All The Nights" we have the first ballad. An emotional, a bit melancholic, track that features a beautiful melody and some really impressive vocal performances. "Eye For An Eye" is a great in-your-face rocker, just listen to the chorus, "Enemy In Me" is a heavier one with an explosive chorus line and the album that closes this record, "Laughing At Tomorrow" is another highlight!!

Perfect from start to finish! "Tearing Down The Walls" comes like a rock to tear down the walls and to certify how good this band is! I think that this record has it all; a sound larger than life, big guitars, the right attitude, the melodies, solid arrangements, catchy hooks and choruses but most of all it has great songs! Already a classic in my book!!!

  1. Thanks for the review. I like reading these just to validate how awesome I already think this album is :)

I do agree with everything you said though. It's a shame this band can't get more exposure in the US...So many people here crave the classic sounds of bands like Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, etc, etc....Well...There is a current band out there taking little pieces from all those bands and molding it into something current and classic sounding all at the same time....And their name is H.E.A.T!

This album is pure ear candy and makes me just smile in approval and tap my foot along to the melodies. Tobias Lindell has done an excellent job getting the best out of these guys....I basically think he does for them what Mutt Lange did for Def Leppard....And if Address The Nation was their Pyromania....Then Tearing Down the Walls is their Hysteria.

Great job guys...I'll buy as much music sounding like this as you can crank out :)
