The melodic rock band PARIS has it's roots in the French capital, but, after a short look at the album credits, you will discover that we are dealing with an international melodic project. The two musicians behind PARIS are Frederic Dechavanne and Sebastien Montet. These two are responsible for the lead vocals, the songwriting, the guitars and the keyboards.
The rhythm section consists of Alessandro Del Vecchio, Anna Portalupi (Hardline), Alessandro Mori (Lionville), Robert Sqll (W.E.T.) and Steve Newman. "Only One Life" is a strong AOR album full of some great and catchy melodic tunes that will find a place in every AOR fan's cd collection. The opening track, "Dancing On The Edge" is extremely melodic and radio-friendly with heart-full performances and a catchy chorus line. "What Should We Be Saying" is a harder edged rocker filled with some lovable keys and reminds Newman's solo albums. Great track!! There are some mid-tempo, ballads kinda of tracks such as the emotional "The Time Still To Come" and the huge "Everytime You Walk Away" that are givin' the extra flavor to the album's final result but most of the songs here have a positive feel-good vibe that make this record a very enjoyable ride.
All in all, this is a very interesting release. For me, PARIS is one of the pleasant surprises of this year so far. Melodic as it gets with a tight songwriting and a winning team of guest make this album a must have for every fan of this scene. Check it out!!!
