Finnish Occult Rock troupe JESS AND THE ANCIENT ONES are going to release their debut (self-titled) album. Recorded in December by Necromorbus Studio, which is known for their previous work with bands such as Watain, the result of this album is a 53 minute moonlight ride into the nether regions of progressive occult heavy rock.
This seven-headed entity was given birth by Thomas Corpse and Thomas Fiend, its purpose being the exploration of magical realms beyond the mundane. The band's lyrical concept is based upon the personal occult experiences of the writers, which combined with music that creates a strong mystical atmosphere and an unforgettable live performance as well. With the vocal talent Jess as their frontwoman and three guitars in the lineup, JATAO draw their inspiration from heavy metal and rock groups of the classic era, such as Mercyful Fate, Roky Erickson, Iron Maiden and Abba.
The album will be released on Svart Records on May 23th, and it will be available as a limited CD box as well as on standard black and limited colored vinyl. This year Jess And The Ancient Ones will perform several festival shows in Europe, including Tuska Open Air 2012 in Finland and Heavy Days In Doomtown in Denmark.
