Reckless Love made a huge impact with their self-titled album last year. It was a great combination of 80's melodic hard rock stuff, such as Bon Jovi, Van Halen, Danger Danger with a 'small' touch of new age scandi sleaze rock. Cool melodies, catchy choruses to sing-a-long for days and a tight musicianship. This year Reckless Love is back with their brand new release which is titled "Animal Attraction".
The new album continues where the debut stopped. For example, the memorable and catchy choruses are here, the passionate performances are, also, here and the party feeling is all over the album. "Animal Attraction" is the album's starter. It's a cool hard rocker with a nice melody but didn't grab the attention as "Feel The Heat" did in their debut. "Speedin'" is a speedy rocker with, again, a nice hook and chorus but nothin' really breathtakin'. From the first notes of "Born To Break Your Heart", it's clear that this is going to be a highlight! Yes, it has an amazing melody, a catchy chorus line and a 'modern' hard rock vibe in it. Great, just great! "Hot" is a cool commercial 'modern' sleaze hard rock tune with a Wig Wam-ish chorus line. "Fantasy" is a beautiful mid-tempo track with a great melody and a chorus to die for! "Dirty Dreams" is another winner here. Inspired melody with killer backing vocals and harmonies. "Dance" is a very modern tune and probably the weakest here, even if the chorus line is catchy. "Fight" is the heaviest track here while "Switchblade Babe" is overall a good one. “On The Radio” is anthemic stadium rock with a killer chorus and it's the perfect track to play it on 10!
All in all, this is a really cool release. I have the feeling that their debut was better, it had some catchier tunes and an 80's feeling that this one hasn't. "Animal Attraction" has a strong 'modern' feeling and, also, some average tunes. For the ones that loved the band's debut, this one is a must have. For the others that haven't heard Reckless love's first release, you will sure miss a great album.
