Ozzy Osbourne / Scream (2010)

It's always a great pleasure when one of the biggest names in the heavy metal world is releasing a new album! Yes, Ozzy Osbourne is back with his first full album after three years. "Scream" is the title of this new effort and it's nice to see and hear that the madman after all those years can release albums like that. Another solid album from Ozzy and his gang and with a new axeman this time. The new 'guitarman' is well-known from his Firewind works as Mr. Gus G. The other members of the band are Tommy Clufetos on drums and percussion, Adam Wakeman on keyboards and Rob Blasko Nicholson on bass.
First of all, I have to say that the production here rocks! The guitar sound is 'fat' and you can hear some really excellent leads from Gus. Ozzy's voice is ok and the songs are from good to very good! I don't know but I have the feeling, after hours and hours of listening, that this album lacks of some bigger and catchier choruses. But I have to stop complaining; the overall result pleases me so this is that it counts. The sound of 'Scream" is the perfect marriage between the old Ozzy and the Ozzy of the last couple of records. The lead single of the album, " Let Me Hear You Scream ", is fantastic! It reminds me some of the Zakk Wylde 'old' dayz. "Diggin' Me Down" is heavy and has a nice groove while "Time" , one of my faves from the new album, starts of as mid-tempo and kicks in at the chorus. A really great tune. "Let It Die" is a good track with a catchy and melodic chorus line.
Bottom line is that this is a good release from Ozzy. Not his best but for sure not his worst. The truth is somewhere in the middle. Maybe if from this album were missing some fillers then probably this album could be so much better.
