Motley Crue / Motley Crue (1994)

Motley Crue's one and only release without their original frontman, Vince Neil. John Corabi (The Scream) is the new shouter and he is doin' an excellent job. His voice is powerfull and strong and he is giving the extra push to the new Crue sound. With Neil out of the 'crue circus' the die-hards, including myself, were mixed-up. But the final result of 'Motley Crue' album pleased a lot of fans and earned a lot of new ones. If this was the debut album of a new band, then we would talkin' for a great start. For the Crue sound is a hell more different compared to their earlier releases. The sound is heavier, the vocals are rougher, the riffs are bigger and the whole result is absolutely perfect. Killer riffs from Mick Mars, some really heavy pounding bass lines from Nikki Sixx and some inspired and hard hitting tracks make this album an essentional purchase for all the crazy heavy rockers out there! A couple of average tracks here, like 'Loveshine' and 'Droppin' Like Flies' don't bother me at all. Highlights here are the imressive and heavy 'Uncle Jack', 'Power to the Music', the commercial tune of 'Poison Apples' and the killer 'Smoke the Sky'. All in all, with or without Neil, another one impressive Motley record! Buy it!
