Skid Row / Subhuman Race (1995)

This is the forth and last album with Sebastian Bach on vocals. You see, back in 1995 the "grunge" was ruled in airwaves and every heavy/hard rock band of the glory 80's was trying to either to update their sound or to...split!

Skid Row with "Slave To The Grind" took a heavier direction and the result was simple amazing!! With this one went to more heavier (and in some parts thrashier?) paths not so commercial as their previous works but with heavy as hell riffs and a more straight-forward direction and less anthemic. For sure in this album there is not a new "Youth Gone Wild" or "18 And Life" but there are some great tracks here.

Highlights here are the ultra-heavy sound of  "My Enemy", "Remains to be Seen", "Frozen", "Face Against My Soul", "Medicine Jar", the stunning "Into Another" and my personal favorite "Breakin' Down"which is an extremely powerful and emotional song.
Maybe this is not their best album to date, but for sure this one is a very good heavy metal album!!
HeavyParadise's Rating :8/10
