REVIEW : MR. BIG, Ten (Frontiers Music s.r.l. Release: 12 July 2024)

One of the most beloved hard rock bands of the golden era of U.S. Hard Rock scene, MR. BIG strikes back with a brand new opus. The new album is simply entitled "TEN" and it's out through the Italian music label Frontiers Music.

The band that through all these decades of music career released great and classic records, played in numerous live performances and built a myth around its name it's time again to offer to its fans new music. And as Eric Martin states : "This new album doesn't copy anything from the 9 previous studio records it's all new stuff from scratch.. this is raw, unadulterated riff rock and blues with all the Mr. Big trimmings."

Mr. Big consists by Eric Martin, Paul Gilbert, and bassist Billy Sheehan. With the addition of Nick D'Virgilio (Genesis/Spocks Beard) on drums the band is ready, once again, to surprise their fans with its fresh and high-quality music.

For sure don't expect a new "Lean Into It" or "Bump Ahead" or even a new "Actual Size" (with Richie Kotzen on guitars). This new 'baby' is more 'dirty', more raw and more in-your-face rock 'n' roll regarding the band's earlier standarts, if you know what I mean. In "TEN" you will find eleven (including the bonus track "8 Days On The Road") songs that's walkin' perfectly between blues rock, classic hard rock and 70's rock without loosing the interest of the listener a bit.

Mr. Big was always an exremely talented band and, as I mentioned above, it achieved to build a myth around its name. "TEN" is a strong record that is made with heart and soul and prooves in a unique way that it's only rock 'n' roll at the end!

RATING : 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆  (8 / 10 )
