Black Swan consists of Robin McAuley (McAuley Schenker Group), guitarist Reb Beach (Winger, Whitesnake), bassist Jeff Pilson (Foreigner, The End Machine, Dokken) and drummer Matt Starr (Ace Frehley, Mr. Big). Their debut, "Shake The World" back in 2022, made a huge impression among the fans of the classic hard rock sound and left us hungry for more. Nowadays, Black Swan is back to offer us, once again, a damn fine sample of pure, solid and straight-forward hard rock album.
"Generation Mind" kicks-off with the powerful and in-your-face tune of "She Hides Behind" and leaves you hungry for more! Yes, it's one of those songs that must be listened on a maximum volume! A true late 80's hard rock hymn in the vain of Winger, Dokken and, of course MSG!!! "Generation Mind", "Eagles Fly" and "See You Cry" are all three great and classic 80's hard rock stuff who all feature powerful vocals, breathtaking guitar licks from the "mighty' Reb Beach and a strong musicianship!
One of my personal favourite songs out of the new effort is the classic "Killer On The loose". This song 'smells' mid 80's from miles away; I mean that this song is written to be featured back in the glory days of this genre. The guitar work is once again breathtaking! Other highlights are the bluesy "How Do You Feel", the fast-paced heavy rocker of "Long Way Down" and the Dokken-esque "Wicked The Day".
I have the feeling that this second effort, "Generation Mind", from these veteran-rockers is slightly better than the great debut. More powerful, more late 80's with bigger choruses and bigger guitars and with a totally in-your-face attitude, BLACK SWAN is delivering one of the best records of 2022!!
