REVIEW : CoreLeoni , II (AFM Records, Release: 27 September 2019)

Coreleoni is a band that brings back the sound of the legendary GOTTHARD with style! Founder member Leo Leoni (Gotthard) teamed up with extraordinary singer Ronnie Romero (ex-Lords Of Black) and together with Hena Habegger (drums, Gotthard), Jgor Gianola (guitar, ex-Gotthard/U.D.O./Jorn Lande) and Mila Merker (bass, Soulline) created a damn solid band that can't be missed by each and every fan of Gotthard!!!

The debut opus was a killer one, no doubt 'bout that. The new record, entitled "II", is a killer one too. Featuring some classic Gotthard tunes and also including two new tracks, the sure thing is that it will blow up your speakers. Listening to these Gotthard favorites singed by Romero, the first thing that comes into my mind is that Romero's voice is so similar to Steve Lee's (R.I.P.) vocals. All the songs are treated in a way that are close to their original form, maybe a bit heavier, and the sure thing is that the result is breathtaking.

A close look to the track list and you'll realize that this new opus includes some of the best tracks of Gotthard's career. "Open Fire", "Angel" (I just love this one...), "Love For Money", "Mountain Mama", "Make My Day" and the hymn of "Standing In The Light" are some of the classics that will make you wanna bang your head and turn up the volume on 10!!!! Apart from the classic Gotthard tunes, the album also features a couple of new songs. "Queen Of Hearts" and "Don't Get Me Wrong" are the two new tracks and I can say that they both really smoke!! Both are pure Gotthard-esque, if you know what I mean. Big, powerful, heavy and with tons of melodies enough to die for!

If you missed the classic Gotthard sound, then Coreleoni's brand new opus is YOUR album, no doubt about that. Romero is doin' an amazing job with the vocals and the rest of the band is tight as hell. The couple of new tracks are simply stunning and I would love to hear an album that will include new material in the near future. Highly recommended.

Rating : 9/10
