SHERIFF / SHERIFF (1982)

Sheriff was formed in 1979 in Toronto (Can.). The band consisted of vocalist Freddy Curci, Steve DeMarchi on guitars, Arnold David Lanni on keyboards, Wolf D. Hassel on bass guitars and Rob Elliot on drums.
Together they released a really solid effort in 1982 that featured the Canadian Top 40 hit "You Remind Me". But the ultimate hit from that album was "When I'm With You", which reached #1 in Canada and #61 in the U.S. An amazing tune! So, the album starts with the up-tempo tune of "You Remind Me". A very good and melodic track which features a nice riff and solo from DeMarchi. "California" is another rockier track with a strong and memorable chorus line. "Makin' My Day" has some amazing high-pitched vocal duties from Freddy Curci and a strong hook.

And it's the time that the most impressive track of the album appears! "When I'm With You" is a slow track and one of the so-called classic ballads of an era that will live forever. An essential tune filled with emotional vocals and an inspired guitar melody! "Kept Me Coming" is a faste paced rocker with an amazing solo! "Mama's Boy" is a rather average tune while "Crazy Without You" is up-tempo and has a nice vibe in it! "Elisa" and "Livin For A Dream" are both good tracks. "Give Me Rock N' Roll" is exactly what the song title says; a typical 80's hard Rock N' Roll tune! One of my favorite tunes here and Steve DeMarchi's smokes in this one!
Overall this is a very good debut album fromSheriff. Later Steve DeMarchi and Freddy Curci formed another excellent band; Alias. The rest of the story is well known....
