REVIEW : HEAVENS EDGE, Get It Right (Frontiers Music s.r.l. Release: 12 May 2023)

Philadelphia hard rockers Heavens Edge are back with a brand new record entitled "Get It Right"!! The new album is going to be releaesed through Frontiers Music this May.

This will be their first official release since 1998, when the demos and other rarities, considered as the band’s second album, "Some Other Place, Some Other Time" (MTM Music) was put out. Heavens Edge entered the studio in the fall of 1989 and recorded their self-titled debut album with producer Neil Kernon (Dokken, Queensrÿche, Judas Priest). With album artwork and a music video for the first single “Skin To Skin” ready to go, Columbia Records released the album in the spring of 1990. The reviews were immediately favorable and the band hit the road with dates in Los Angeles, Boston, Baltimore, and many others. This album is still one of my favorites out of that golden era!

Through the years, after the release of "Some Other Place, Some Other Time", the band played at various events. Back in 2013, Heavens Edge reunited with the original line-up for Firefest in Nottingham, UK. The event proved so successful that the guys continued the live show momentum with performances on The Monsters Of Rock Cruise, the Melodic Rock Festival in Chicago, and main-stage sets at M3 in the Baltimore, MD area.

Original member (bassist) George G.G. Guidott passed away (R.I.P.) and Jaron Gulino (Tantric, Mach 22) took his palce in the band that was joined also by Original members Reggie Wu (guitars, keyboards), Mark Evans (vocals), David Rath (drums), and Steven Parry (guitars).

After the very first spin of the new opus, I have to say that I really enjoyed it a lot!! I have the feeling that the boys of Heavens Edge pick-up things were they left it with their previous recordings and continue to deliver strong, powerful and melodic hard rock stuff at its highest order. Songs such as the ultra melodic "What Could've Been", the up-beat "9 Lives (My Immortal Life)", the late 80's hard rock anthems of "Gone Gone Gone" and "Had Enough" (with its huge groovein it...) and the melodic modern tune of "Beautiful Disquise" are all great saples of a band that has more to give and let's hope that "Get It Right" will be the re-start of a new a beautiful journey!
