Daniel Flores continues his amazing work regarding the production here and Harry Hess's vocals are top notch as always. Pete Alpenborg (Arctic Rain), Guillermo Del Medio (Inner Stream), Alessandro Del Vecchio, Kristian Fyhr (Seventh Crystal), Herman Nori, and others have contributed their songwriting talents to this latest opus and the result is once again breathtaking!!!
The first big highlight comes with "I Don't Wanna Feel The Night Is Over". A huge melodic rocker with a strong Harem Scarem-esque vibe in it, a chorus line to die for and a musicianship strong as a rock! Excellent track! The up-beat and faster tune of "Show Me The Way" is just killer!!! I mean, does it get better than this? Edgy AOR with Hess's soaring vocals in front row "Show Me The Way" is flawed to perfection!
The highlights continue with the straight-forward "Don't Look Away", the moodier "Irreplaceable" and the classic power ballad of "One More Time". Especially in "One More Time" reminded me of Harem Scarem's latest work and it's one of those songs that speaks to your heart once! Beautiful!! The emotional mid-tempo tune of "Angel With A Rose" is again a nice moment out of the new opus while in "Mystery" the band brings back the heaviness, the power and the up-beats!!!
Ladies and gentleman this is a true and classic melodic rock/AOR album in all its glory! The musicianship is top notch, the performances also and the songs are all killer!!! FIRST SIGNAL with their brand new opus "Closer To The Edge" are gettin' closer to perfection and set a strong candidate for the album of the year!!
