REVIEW : TWO OF A KIND --- Rise (Frontiers Music s.r.l., July 2018)

The melodic rock band of Two Of A Kind made its appearance in 2007. Its debut, "Two Of A Kind", was released by Frontiers Music and gained both critics and fans. The mastermind behind this band was no other than Fred Hendrix of Terra Nova
Apart from Fred Hendrix (on bass guitars), the band consisted of two female singers, Esther Brouns and Anita Craenmehr, Gesuino Derosas (guitar), Hans in't Zandt (drums), and Fred's brother Ron Hendrix (keyboards).

Nowadays and after eleven1 years, the band is going to release its brand new opus, through Frontiers Music s.r.l., with the title "Rise". For those who aren't familiar with Two Of A Kind's music, let me tell you that this band combines perfectly the style of Boston, Heart and, of course, Terra Nova with some new n' fresh AOR elements and the result is very strong.

The first couple of songs that kick-off "Rise", 'Here Is The Now' & 'Rock Your World', are solid melodic rock stuff. With 'Wheel Of Life', the band delivers an edgier and very Heart-esque rocker that is among my personal tunes out of this new opus. Next, we have the groovier 'Rise' that includes a nice and heavier riff in it, the melodious 'Higher' (another highlight) and the modern "It Ain't Over" which is an absolute killer song!! Especially the tune of "It Ain't Over" features some excellent vocals, great arrangements and a killer chorus line that it's spinning through my mind!!!

Two Of A Kind returns to the melodic rock scene with a really solid album all the way. It's a record that will find a place to each and every's melodic rock fan discography. The performances are top notch, the melodies plenty and some killer tracks that included here makes "Rise" a must purchase for every AOR freak out there.

Rating : 8,5/10
