Oakland, CA-based heavy rock band Electric Sister has
released a streaming version of “Drop Dead Legs,” the band’s contribution to
TAKE YOUR WHISKEY HOME: A MILLENIUM TRIBUTE TO VAN HALEN 1978-1984 (Versailles
Records, October 2012).
Electric Sister’s take on one of Van Halen’s sexiest
songs demonstrates not only a reverence to the source material, but the gritty
vocals, driving rhythm, and super-charged guitar work the band has become known
for.
Other Van Halen homage-payers on TAKE YOUR WHISKEY HOME include
Jeff Scott Soto (Journey), Jake E. Lee (Ozzy Osbourne/Badlands), Jimmy Crespo
(Aerosmith), Stephen Pearcy (RATT), Frankie Banali (Quiet Riot, W.A.S.P.), Vinny
Appice (Black Sabbath / Heaven & Hell / DIO), Rowan Robertson (DIO),
American Dog (featuring members of Dangerous Toys / Salty Dog), and rock acts
including Leaving Eden, Takara, Richard Kendrick, Steve Pugh, Fair Warning, and
American Hellbilly.
Electric Sister’s standout
appearance on the record is just part of an epic year for the band. In addition to releasing a second single and
video (“I Want It All”) from the critically acclaimed album THE LOST ART OF ROCK
& ROLL, Electric Sister has shared the bill with some of the biggest names
in music including Motley Crue and KISS, Slash and Foxy Shazam, and Steel
Panther.
TAKE YOUR WHISKEY HOME: A MILLENIUM TRIBUTE TO VAN
HALEN 1978-1984 is available in stores now.
THE LOST ART OF ROCK & ROLL is available online at iTunes, Amazon,
Rhapsody, 7digital, Spotify and at the band’s website, electricsistermusic.com.
