FALLEN LIVES / FALLEN LEAVES (2011)

Fallen Lives was formed in mid 2009 by people passionate for the music, Christos Manidakis on the guitars/vocals and Nikos Georgitsopoulos on the bass guitar. After some changes on the line up,the band recorded a live rehearsal named Damaged Ballerina. A few months later, Fallen Lives participated in the music contest of Nakas music stores in Athens, and in a live performance with Nightstalker in Thessaloniki, GR.

Nowadays, the band is releasing its debut album which contains 7 songs and it combines speed with aggressive melodies and the layout of the album is made from Seth siro Anthon, who is well-known for his work as a designer of layouts for bands like Paradise Lost, Exodus, Old mans Child, Caliban and many more. The album starts with the "Fallen Leaves". An interesting tune with some nice guitar parts and an overall good rhythm rotation. "Take Me Down" starts slowly and after a minute comes the real thing! A heavy metalic tune in an old-fashion way that could be much better if it had a 'catchier' chorus line. "Damaged Ballerina" is a good song, more memorable than the previous two, while "Broken Reality" is my personal favourite from this effort. "Why" has some 'modern' metal elements in it and in "Break The Chains" you will find some cool guitar work. "Pyrexia Dreams" has a 'thrashy' feeling and the last song that closes the album is an acoustic version of "Break The Chains" which is very interesting.

Ovearll, this is a good release from this Greek act. It has some very good moments and ideas that with more work their future releases will sound much better.
