ROBIN BECK / DO YOU MISS ME (2005)

This is another solid release from Robin Beck. For me, Beck is amongst the best female singers all time. With her "Trouble Or Nothing" album she showed that she could conquer the melodic world. It was an excellent melodic rock album! With this one she turned back to her roots, melodies/hooks, with a modern AOR feel and some really great arrangements.

For this album Robin Beck gets the helping hand of James Christian and Fabrizio Grossi and the result is a strong album in the vain of James Christian's solo works. In this release you can find some excellent tunes that bring back memories from Robin Beck's earlier albums. The catchy choruses are still here, the melodies are also here but I have the feeling that in the final result something is missing. Maybe the lack of some more rhythmic songs? I don't know. The album starts of with the brilliant "Do You Miss Me". A melodic AOR tune with a catchy chorus line and a nice guitar work. "Your Love Is Tough" is another excellent rocker with some cool guitars! "The Safest Place" is a nice mid-tempo/ballad tune in which Robin Beck sings in such a great way! "Coming Back For More" is a personal favorite and perhaps one of the strongest tracks from this effort.

All in all, this is an interesting release from Robin Beck. Maybe this is not a killer release such as "Trouble Or Nothing" or her new stunning "The Great Escape" but for sure it's a well played melodic album full of nice melodies.
