White Lion / Big Game (1989)

The crown jewel of the band's discography, as the riffs/solos, vocals, and songwriting are all at their best. Vito Bratta continues to move forward and mature as one of melodic heavy rock's most underrated guitarists, Mike Tramp's performances are just great and the rest of the band seems tighter than ever. This album is pretty much all-around complete, whereas the previous efforts may have fallen short on some of the songs. The two absolutely hits, in my opinion, from 'Big Game' are the commercial tune of "Goin' Home Tonight" and the anthemic "Living on the Edge." Another one gem, and ultimate surprise from the band, is the dark and ultra heavy chug of "If My Mind is Evil." A superb chorus, and a crunching atmosphere! And of course last but not least, the HUGE "Cry For Freedom" !
