REVIEW : GYPSY ROSE --- Reloaded (ScandiRock Records, Release Date: 26 April 2019 )

GYPSY ROSE (Sweden) was founded back in 1981 in Sweden by Håkan Gustafsson and Martin Kronlund. Although they formed the band back in 198, their self-titled debut was just released in 2005, almost 25 years later. The band broke up in 1993 but thanks to Andrew McNeice,  at Melodicrock.com, the group got back together again in 2004 and started to record in Martins Kronlund’s studio.

The album was official released with the title "Gypsy Rose" in 2005 and nowadays is re-released on CD and digital under the new name “Reloaded” but, also, with a new cover and is re-mastered by Martin Kronlund and with the bonus track “Solitude” added.

The opening tune of "When You Leave At Night" is probably one of the best hard rocking tunes that you have heard for ages! Somewhere between DogFace and Hardline this track is an absolute killer! A powerful and in-your-face rocker that includes heavier guitars and a chorus line to blow your head out! Next, with "You Drive Me Crazy" we have another winner out of this record. This song reminded a bit of Scorpions but in a more commercial approach. "Promise To Stay" is a delightful sample of Scandi melodic rock at its best and in "You Are The One" we are dealing with another gem. This is a more fast-paced rocker that grabs you and leaves you hungry for more. "Burning", "Light Up My Way" and the incredible melodic and very AOR-ish "December Night" are all three excellent samples of a very good band that could be huge!!!!

All in all, this is just an excellent album all the way! An up-tempo, melodic as it gets, powerful and catchy as hell hard rock record that every single fan of this genre should own! The guitar lines by Martin Kronlund are in one word amazing!

Rating : 10/10
