REVIEW : L.A. GUNS, Checkered Past (Frontiers Music s.r.l. Release: 12 November 2021)

One of L.A.'s favourite bands L.A. Guns is back in business with its brand new record entitled "Checkered Past". The new album is going to be released through Frontiers Music

"Checkered Past" sees Tracii Guns, Phil Lewis, and company continuing with the darker lyrical tone of the preceding studio albums, "The Devil You Know" and "The Missing Peace", while they are incorporating their classic rock influences into the mix.

The new record kicks-off in a very L.A. Guns old-fashioned way; powerful, sleazier and in-your-face. A true classic Guns' song, if you ask me, and a live favourite in the future. In "Bad Luck Charm", we have a bluesier and darker tune while with "Get Along" the band offers yet another cool song. A more laid back, soulful and, once again, darker track which is a highlight out of "Checkered Past".

The heavier and 'melancholic' tune of "If It's Over Now" is just a beauty while in "Better Than You" L.A. Guns are bringing the aggressivity of their earlier days and are delivering the goods! "Knock Me Down", the groovier "Dog" and "Physical Itch" are all three solid samples.

All in all, this is a strong effort by these hard rock veterans and a must add to the collection of every die-hard of this band.
