REVIEW : SHAKRA, MAD WORLD (AFM Records, February 28, 2020 )

The fact is that with SHAKRA you know exactly what to expect from each and every single release; powerful, in-your-face and catchy as hell melodic hard rock stuff!! With a really long-time career, almost 25 years, SHAKRA are back in business with a brand new record entitled "Mad World".

The song that kicks-off the party here is entitled "Fireline"! A true heavy rock gem and a song that is a trademark of SHAKRA's sound. Ass-kickin' and in-your-face with some sharp and edgy guitars along with Fox's unique vocal lines and there you have the first killer tune of the new album.

Next, "Too Much Is Not Enough" features a bad-ass groove in, a heavier and moodier vibe in it and a catchy as hell chorus line enough to make you bang your head. With "Mad World" the boys are on fire and deliver another cracker out of the new opus! The hook and chorus line are simply breathtaking and, in my humble opinion, this one is one of the best SHAKRA's songs ever!!!
"When He Comes Around" reminded me a bit of GOTTHARD's earlier works while in "I Still Rock" Shakra are ready to tear your house down!! Heavy rock at its best with a powerful and explosive rhythm section that you feel it in your bones!  "Fake News", the fast-paced "When It All Falls Down" and the ultra-commercial "Turn The Light On" are all three superb slices of pure melodic hard rock heaven.

SHAKRA is a band that after all these years is still standing tall and playing passionate, powerful and ass-kickin' melodic hard rock!! With "Mad World" they put heart, muscle and passion and deliver an overall amazing record!!! Higly recommended!!
