REVIEW : UNRULY CHILD, "Big Blue World" (Frontiers Music s.r.l., Release: 9 August 2019)

For those who are into the melodic rock/AOR scene the name of Unruly Child is no stranger at all. Originally formed back in 1993, Unruly Child released some excellent albums over the years. Nowadays, Marcie Free (vocalist - King Kobra, Signal), Bruce Gowdy (guitarist -Stone Fury, World Trade), and Guy Allison (keyboardist - Lodgic, World Trade, Doobie Brothers) are back together again to present us their brand new opus entitled “Big Blue World" .

The new record kicks-off impressively and in a very classic way with the amazing "Living In Someone Else’s Dream". A track that could easily appear in the band's debut and it features a brilliant melody, great arrangements and, of course, a huge chorus line. "All Over The World" is, again, a great tune; edgier and with a bigger groove in it this track reminded me once again of Unruly Child's earlier works. "Breaking The Chains" is a more laid-back, with some strong progressive rock pinches, a song that Marcie Free's superb vocal lines really are shining all over. A true heartfull and beautiful track that stands out here.

In "Are These Words Are Enough", we have one of the best tracks out of "Big Blue World".  A beautiful power ballad that includes all the early Unruly Child magic in it. Strong arrangements, melodies, emotional guitar lines and Marcie Free's superb vocals in front row. The AOR gem of "Will We Give Up Today", the edgier "The Harder They Will Fall" and the 80's "Down And Dirty" are three more highlights out of the new opus that will please every single fan of this legendary band.

All in all, "Big Blue World" is yet another killer release from Unruly Child that stands out proudly besides the band's classic albums such as "Unruly Child", "Waiting For The Sun" and "Worlds Collide".

Rating : 8,5/10
