MISTRESS / Loveteaser (2013)

Formed in 2008 in New Zealand by Siggy Signal, Mistress is trying to reveal the sound of the glory 80's hard rock scene in the vain of bands such as Motley Crue, Winger, Ratt and Bon Jovi. The band started as a trio featuring Tim Frickstix on drums, Jesse Hewitt on bass and Siggy Signal on guitars and vocals recorded its debut 4-track EP and achieved to make some noise around its name.

Mistress started to perform live and made a name for themselves with their high-energetic and powered live performances in the local live scene. But after the great start, personal tragedy struck among one of the band's member. The band was unable to continue and Siggy started to search for a new line-up. The two new members were found and Mistress started again to perform live and thinking about their future. In 2013, the band released its debut album which was entitled "Loveteaser" and started to promote it.

After the first spin of "Loveteaser" I have to admit that Mistress achieved to catch my attention at once with its catchy, up-tempo and totally 80's hard rock sound. Yes, it's so good! In my humble opinion, there is an early Ratt vibe in all over the project and that's a thing that I like. The guitar work is simple and rockin' in such a good way, the vocal lines are very good and the musicianship is top notch. Even there is no filler in sight here, there are a couple of killer tracks here, that takes the whole album in to a higher level, such as "Turn It On", "Live It Up", "To The Top" and the Firehouse-esque opener tune of "Rock It Tonight".

Bottom line is that "Loveteaser" is a real solid album! It's trying to bring the glory Sunstrip days back and believe me it does it in a very good way. No modern thing here just pure, killer hard rock/hair metal stuff in an old fashion way that will bring memories from another, so sweet, era. Taste it!
