WAKE UP CALL / WAKE UP CALL (EP-2011)

Wake Up Call is a new melodic rock band, but their members have been around, rockin' the Italian underground rock scene with their several projects, for years, even from a really early age. Their music can be desribed as rock with some modern melodic rock elements, but the result, overall, is very good! So, what we have here is the band's first EP. "Wake Up Call" is a collection of five tracks, which the first three were recorded with the famous producer Beau Hill.

The fact is that from the very first listening, I like what I hear. Up-tempo rhythm, tight musicianship, passionate performances and a very good guitar player. Yes, the guitar riffs and solos may not be something new but, for sure, are capable of making you shake and tumble! "Revolution" is the song that opens this EP. A heavy riffing and some in-your-face vocals make this tune an apettiter for what's coming next! "The Devil's Round" has a groovier start, low-tuned guitars and an ass-kickin' hook and chorus line. At this point, I have to say that the lead vocalist, Tommy, has a voice range/shade that could easily fit in any sleazy/hair metal act of the glory 80's. "Before I Fall" is the first single of the EP. A more commercial sound and some modern elements, especially in the chorus, make this tune the way to their success. "Here To Stay", featuring Olly Riva, is heavier, darker with an explosive hook and a catchy as hell chorus line! Well done! "Full Of Regrets" starts slowly with an acoustic guitar and turns to be one of the album's highlights. A feel good vibe in it and again a catchy chorus!

All in all, this is a very interesting EP from a very promising band. These guys have the attitude and the passion to make something bigger in the near future.
