Santa Cruz is a hot new act that has been together since 2007 and they are hailing from Helsinki, Finland. Their music is a great mix of 80's, early 90's, sleaze heavy rock stuff with some newer elements of the so-called new wave of Swedish sleaze metal!
The music here is raw, high-energetic and makes you wanna push the repeat button again and again! Their lead singer, Archie, is the perfect mix of early Shotgun Messiah's (debut album era) with some earlier Vince Neil's (Shout At The Devil era) pinches!! The influences from the above mentioned bands are more than obvious but, also, you can hear some Skid Row elements aas well. Their attitude came out from the Sunset Strip days and generally their music rocks big time!!
This EP starts with the "Over The Limit" tune which is the perfect opener and a great appetizer of what's coming-up next!! Gang-bang vocals, loud guitars and a Skid Row-ish rhythm that brings memories from another era!! "Let's Get The Party Started" is excactly what the song title says; anthemic, loud with a big chorus line!! Great just great!! "Anthem For The Young 'N' Restless" is the EP's highlight!! Another bombastic chorus with great arrangements and a big in-your-face guitar work. This track could easily appear in any of Shotgun Messiah's first two records!! "Don't Runaway" is a kinda of mid-tempo rocker with a great chorus, again, while "Hostile Shakedown" brings some sleazier rhythms. The EP closes with "We're Aiming High". Another excellent example of pure sleaze heavy rock stuff!!
All in all this is a great release all the way. It has attitude, power and some really cool songs! For the fans of Skid Row, Motley Crue, Crashdiet and Crazy Lixx this is a MUST have. Well done!!
