There is no doubt that Jorn is one of the best voices in todays contemporary scene of
melodic metal/hard rock. His
voice is the perfect mix between the great David Coverdale and R.J. Dio.
Anyway, Jorn is a huge fan of both legenderay musicians and has proven to each of his albums but, also, to his live appearances. His solo albums are heavenly influenced by an 80's feel and the references to
Whitesnake, Rainbow, Dio and other giants of that time is quite a lot.
The
project with Russell Allen and the result of three very good releases are a gem
and a must have for any fan of hard n 'heavy scene.
So Jorn returns to the music scene with the brand new "Bring Heavy Rock To The land". Catchy title that reflects once again the singer's love for the scene of the 80's! In this new release, Jorn is working again with the 'maestro' of the kind Tommy Hansen, winning team does not change, and the result is once again solid. The production is strong and the voice of Jorn is at first background, the artist's trademark. Jorn says 'bout this new effort: "when you buy the album you know very well what to expect? A strong combination of hard rock with melodic metal".
The "My Road" is the introduction of the new release with Jorn delivering a mid-tempo intro with ala Coverdale singin' (.. what else ;)! "Bring Heavy Rock To The Land" and come straight to our face with a stunning heavy rock anthem, a typical Jorn tune!!! Strong arrangements, huge vocal performances, heavy and melodic guitar work and generally the perfect song that put us directly into the spirit of the album. In "Ride Like The Wind" Jorn covers successfully a classic song and in "Time To Be A King" we have a nice piece of heavy tune! The album ends with "I Came To Rock" which is the weakest song on the disc.
Closing I would say that although the "Bring Heavy Rock To The Land" began with the best omens, continuously tiring me a bit!! The songs are repeated without offering something new or something breathtaking and made me press the fast forward button several times throughout the listening! The few moments of surprising they do not stand and unfortunately the 'ghosts' of Coverdale & Dio don't leave Jorn to acquire its own personal sound. The decision is yours!
