This is all what Melodic Rock/AOR is about! Huge melodies, up-tempo rhythms, sensational harmonies, huge key lines and a solid production. Another band from Sweden comes back with their second album and they are ready to conquer the AOR world with "In Progress". The fact is that their debut effort, 'Artwork', made a big impact to the Melodic fans around the world. So, Robert Sall (W.E.T.), Lars Säfsund and Herman Furin are back to deliver a great album and, in my humble opinion, an album even better than their debut!
The opener track "The Rain" gives you immediately a taste of what's comin' up next! Up-tempo with a catchy as hell chorus line and a brilliant solo. What a great way to start this album! "Nature Of The Game" is a classic guitar-driven AOR tune and one of the best tracks from "In Progress". "Once Again" is overall a good one but nothing really special while "Never Love Again" is a huge song! Up-tempo with a feel-good vibe in it and the perfect soundtrack for your summer vacations! "Eye Of The Storm" is another excellent Melodic Rock tune. Essentional key lines perfectly balanced with some inspired guitar riffing plus a great chorus and there you have one of the best moments from the album. The next song is "Until You Believe", which was originally written for W.E.T. A mid-tempo rocker with a memorable hook and chorus. "The Great Fall" is the first single of "In Progress". For sure a highlight! "Call On Me" has another feel-good vibe while "Emilie" is a very TOTO infuenced tune! "Fall Down", "Castaway" and "One Step Away" are all well-crafted songs with huge melodies and great choruses.
Bottom line is that "In Progress" is an excellent release of pure AOR stuff! Everything that a Melodic Rock fan could ask can be found here! For sure, this album will be a classic in the near future at this gerne. A highlight for this year and, for sure, this one will end up high in my Top 20 list!
