SL THEORY / I (2010)

Sotiris Lagonikas is a musician and he is well-known in the Greek audience with the heavy rock/blues band What's The Buzz?. Sotiris Lagonikas is a self-taught musician. He grew up with rock music and spend his childhood age listening Kiss, Kansas, Toto and Foreigner. Then, he started playin' drums, guitar and bass guitar. He jammed with several bands until to become a member of the band What's The Buzz?.  In the spring of 2009, he started working on his first solo album under the project name SL THEORY. This is what the artist stated in his official page : "each day I would get into the studio all alone, grab my guitar , close my eyes and let my imagination fly" .

In this release, the thing that you are going to hear is a well-crafted piece of Rock music. It doesn't matter if this is called Melodic Rock, AOR, Heavy, Jazz or Proggressive Rock. "I" has it all! It's very good music and that's is the one thing that counts. Sotiris Lagonikas is a very talented musician, the music 'speaks' itsself, and his songs are all well played with passion. Very good arrangements and the influences from the artist's idols are more than obvious. Every single track here has its own magic and, overall, it's an album that you can't get bored with. From mid-tempos to some more hard rockin' tunes to AOR melodies; this album is very interesting and very enjoyable from start to finish!

Bottom line is that I really enjoyed listening to this album, a lot! Nice arrangements with very good tracks in it and a lot of heart and soul from the artist who composed and recorded everything in this record. From the drums, guitars, bass, keys even the vocal lines. A very good start from Sotiris Lagonikas in this first attempt. The thing is that I, personally, after that have some higher excpecations in his second release. Well done!
