So here is the brand new (?) album from one of the most recognisable rock icons of the 80's, Vince Neil. Maybe Neil's voice wasn't and isn't one of the best voices out there, technicaly, but for sure his image in the 80's, his attitude and his screams were a huge influence for hundreds other vocalists! And also Neil's first solo album, "eXposed", was a damn fine piece of hair metal album back in 1993. So, what we have here is an 12 track album but only two new songs!! The rest of the songs are covers. And the question is : 'why do I have to buy an album with covers? , for the two new tracks?' . Lack of inspiration? I don't know. But the only thing I know after a few listenings of "Tattoos & Tequila" is that I really enjoyed this effort. The two new tracks are very good tunes. "Tattoos & Tequila" is a cool rockin' song, a bit modern for Vince, but an overall a good one. The second new track is "Another Bad Day ", a track that is co-written with the guys of Motley Crue for the New Tattoo album and just missed the cut. A very interesting tune. About the cover songs, Neil's offering some really interesting and enjoyable moments such as "He's A Whore" of Cheap Trick, Aerosmith's "Nobody's Fault" and the up-tempo rockin' tune of Scorpions "Another Piece Of Meat" . Another one interesting moment is the cover song of Elton John's big hit "Bitch Is Back" and Elvis Presley's "Viva Las Vegas".
All in all this is a very enjoyable album from Vince Neil with some very good moments such as the two new tracks and the most of the covers, but the last question that I have to make is...."is that enough?"........HeavyParadise's Rating: -
